August was spent shopping or making gifts to send to two faraway fellas for their birthdays, both not till September but with a looming postal service strike and me leaving for Nova Scotia in the later weeks of August I was adamant that these be complete, packaged and sent before I left. I like giving gifts more than getting them, and gift-wrapping is an artful activity in itself. Selecting the right wrapping paper, the color and theme to match the contents or the recipient, The beauty is in the details. I know they were pleased to get an unexpected treat in the post (we avoided the postal strike).
